B A in Fine Art (1977) and the University of Cape Town Society of Wild Life Artists (1984).
Holding various exhibitions between 1981-1985, exhibiting widely in Belgium, at the National Gallery of Botswana, in Holland, in Spain and the United Kingdom.
The Botswana National Gallery has work in their collection. Since getting involved in book illustration, Franklin has exhibited on a smaller scale mainly under the auspices of the Society of Wildlife Artists and the Wildfowl Trust.
1985 – Price winner in the British Birds Illustrator of the year competition.
