Alan Cameron was born in Edinburgh in 1950. He is a Scottish artist whose main areas of work are the landscapes of Scotland and Italy and portraiture. His first thematic solo exhibition was in 1984 when the main strands of this work were set. Alan's work is figurative and interpretative and seeks to capture the essential ingredients of his subjects; their form, texture, colour and temperature.

He is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and The University of Edinburgh. Pieces are produced in a variety of media. Alan has also enjoyed a varied career as an architect and landscape architect, which in concert with art, has allowed a creative balance of design for the present and future with interpretation of what is already there.

Alan is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and Associate of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
