Daniel Van der Putten was born in a small farming village near Leyden in Holland. Incidentally, Leyden was also the birthplace of Rembrandt. Daniel Van der Putten worked with his father in the family horticultural business but always had a desire to paint. There were a lot of painters in the family and his Aunt is a famous portrait painter who exhibits in New York. Daniel went to Australia where he met his Scottish wife, and after travelling the world they returned to Scotland. Together they researched and studied painting techniques by looking closely at the work of the great Dutch Masters and by carefully observing the landscape whenever they travelled. After moving southwards to England and being greatly inspired by the English countryside Daniel became a full-time painter.

Daniel Van der Putten’s paintings have a style of their own; he loves colour, light and shadow. His detailed technique is masterful, especially when handling trees and skies. His work has been exhibited in London and at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. He has had many one-man exhibitions both in England and in the United States of America and to date, all his exhibitions have proved to be sell-out successes.

Daniel Van der Putten’s paintings cover a wide range of different moods and seasons and have light and intensity that very few artists can achieve. His work has consistently proved to be a sound investment and also a constant source of enjoyment for private collectors all over the world.
