Robert Chailloux was born in Paris on 23rd April 1913, where he attended the Academy.

During his formative years, he painted Architectural scenes in watercolour, but encouraged by his Parisian professor, he progressed to Still Life, and has since become one of the best known painters of this subject in France.

His first one man exhibition was in Winthertur, Switzerland, in 1947, followed by many others. Major works by Chailloux have been accepted by the Paris City Council and the Museum of the Isle de France. His work was exhibited at the Salon of French Artists from 1940, the Salon National des Beaux Arts from 1943, and many others regularly. Memberships include the Society of French Artists, the Federation du Salon de l'Art Libre and the Salon d'Hiver.

Chailloux has been awarded many prizes, together with gold, silver and bronze medals, including the Prix d'Asnieres and the Prix de Clichy. Some of his paintings can be seen in the Museum of Fine Arts in Paris and quite a number have been reproduced.

Many of Chailloux's works feature sunlit doorways, whilst others are still life subjects of outstanding beauty, in the most subtle of colours with a freshness and delicacy rarely seen.
