"Tyrolean Peasant"
9.5" x 7"

Rosemary Gartner was born in Arnstadt in 1918 of a long line of professional artists. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig and in Munich. It was in Munich that she especially studied composition and the painting of nude figures under Professor Hermann Casper.

She is also a very capable landscape artist, and her versatility shows itself in the fact that she has also made quite a name for herself as a portrait painter. Her style is more realistic than impressionist, which is not very common today.

Rosemary Gartner has exhibited with considerable success in Weimer, Munich and Leipzig.

After the war she settled in Upper Bavaria, where she has made a special study of character painting, in which her flair for portraiture has helped her greatly.
