William won the commission to sculpt sixteen animals for the Botany Council; life-sized sculptures made in cement fondue of an elephant, camels, bear, gorillas, tigers and horses heads. He also took part in a venture with the Perth Mint to produce a range of sculptures for sale through their outlets.



During this period, he won several portrait commissions in bronze, including a commission to produce two life-size, rearing horses cast in bronze for HM the Sultan of Brunei.
